Talent Over Money: FAT Internationalʼs Drive to Open Up Motorsport

Racing is a playground for the wealthy but we're changing the narrative. We welcome everyone who shares the mission to break down the social and financial barriers keeping talent from the track.

A New Era of Motorsport Democracy

We've been defying the odds since inception as a logistic company winning at Le Mans and we're pushing the boundaries further still. Over the last years our focus has been on the spectator's perspective, injecting motorsport with a youthful and fun spirit through culture, art, and music.

Now it's time we turn toward the sport itself. We want a new mode of racing where access isnʼt defined by wealth. Not only accessibility for fans, itʼs about creating real opportunities for gifted young drivers to rise to the top no matter their background.

The white livery of Abbie's GT3 has street-style tagging across the hood in black spraypraint that reads "$33,000,000" to highlight the cost of motorsport

On average it costs 33 million for an F1 driver to compete, even karting as a junior resents a high barrier for entry

The $33M Problem

Ever wondered what it costs to make it to Formula 1? $33 million, and thatʼs the figure we're highlighting on the FAT-liveried car racing the Porsche Carrera Cup UK at Silverstone. It's a symbol of the massive hurdle talented drivers are up against. Our mission is to raise awareness and push for change because racing should be about talent and competition, not the size of your bank account.

Standing with the Global Karting League

Weʼre not in this alone. Rob Smedley is an engineer who previously worked on Ferrari's F1 team and has started the Global Karting League (GKL) to address representation in motorsport. The GKL is building a new, merit-based path into racing starting with karting as a junior. Rob and I share the vision: competition should be about whoʼs fastest, not whoʼs wealthiest. We're shoulder to shoulder paving the way for young racers to show what they've got.

Rob's mission at GKL is made possible with new electric-powered karts that have lower costs to race and a personal interest in better representation across age, gender, equity, and background

Abbie Represents the FAT Spirit at Silverstone

Our livery for the Porsche Carrera Cup at Silverstone 2024 is an eye-catching design that makes a statement about the broad mission to make motorsport inclusive and driver-entrepreneur Abbie Eaton is an embodiment of the spirit. She achieved pole position and first place, making history for women in the race, and goes further in her personal work at Rebelleo Motorsport developing diversity and inclusion initiatives to make opportunities for accessible racing. She too stands for the future where talent and determination define the competition.

Join the Movement

Weʼre calling on fans, media, and the motorsport community to join us in this mission. Together we can shape the future of racing to create a sport defined by raw skill and passion instead of financial barriers.

FAT International is just getting started and the time is now. Stay tuned as we continue to challenge the status quo to make motorsport for everyone.
